Submit Your Mile High Story
Share your Colorado fan story with ColoFandom: what we want, length, photo permissions, what we will not publish and how editing works.
Every Colorado fan has a story: the frozen playoff game, the I-70 detour that still made tip-off, the grandparent who passed down season tickets. ColoFandom wants to hear yours. This page explains what makes a good submission. The submission form is on this page.
What we are looking for
- First-person stories about game days, tailgates, road trips, rivalries and family traditions.
- Specific, sensory details: the smell of green chile, the sound of the crowd, the cold on your hands.
- Practical lessons other fans can use, like logistics, weather or altitude surprises.
- Voices from across the state, including students, mountain-town fans and newcomers.
Length and style
Aim for roughly 400 to 900 words, though shorter pieces are welcome. Write the way you would tell it at the lot. Use a clear beginning, middle and end, and keep it positive and welcoming. A short title and a one-line summary help.
Photos and permissions
Only send photos you took or have permission to share. If recognizable people appear, make sure they are comfortable with it, and be especially careful with children. Do not send images that belong to someone else, like a team, league or photographer, unless you have written permission. Tell us how you would like to be credited.
What we will not publish
- Harassment, hate or personal attacks, including on rival fans.
- Anything defamatory, unlawful or that infringes someone's rights.
- Private information about others, such as addresses or phone numbers.
- Gambling promotion, advertising or content that implies official team, league or venue endorsement.
- Content that encourages unsafe behavior, such as drunk driving or unsafe fire use.
How our editorial process works
We read each submission. We may ask follow-up questions, suggest edits for length, clarity or safety and check facts that seem off. We may edit lightly and will try to keep your voice. We may publish your story, hold it for later or decline it. Sending a story does not promise publication, and we cannot promise a timeline or payment.
Your rights
You keep ownership of your story. By submitting it, you give ColoFandom a non-exclusive license to publish it on the site and in related promotion, as described in the Terms of Fandom. You can ask us to remove a published piece at [email protected].
