Privacy Protocol

Plain-English privacy notes: no accounts, choices stay in your browser, and what third parties like fonts and image hosts can see.

This page explains in plain English how ColoFandom handles information. We keep it simple on purpose. This is a general explanation, not legal advice. If you need legal advice about your own situation, please speak with a qualified professional.

A static site with no accounts

ColoFandom is a static website. There are no user accounts, no logins and no passwords. We do not run a database of members. That means we hold very little personal information about you.

What stays in your browser

Some features save your choices so they are there next time. These include RSVPs, votes, preferences and saved items. They are stored only in your browser using localStorage. They stay on your device, and we do not receive a copy. You can clear them any time by clearing your site data in your browser settings. If you clear it, or use another device or browser, they will not carry over.

Forms and email

Some forms on the site, such as the contact form or story submission, work by opening your email client with a drafted message to [email protected], or by storing your entry locally in your browser. If a form opens your email app, nothing is sent until you press send yourself, and then your email provider and ours handle the message as normal email. Other interest lists, like the notify list, are kept on the ColoFandom side, and we use that only for the purpose you signed up for.

If you email us, we will see your email address and whatever you include. We use it to reply and to handle your request. We do not sell your information.

Hosting and logs

Our site is delivered by a hosting provider and content delivery network. Like most websites, those services may record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and timestamps in server logs. This is used for running, securing and troubleshooting the site. We do not use those logs to build profiles of individual visitors.

Third-party services

To keep the site fast and good looking, some resources are loaded from third parties. When your browser requests them, those providers can see basic technical details such as your IP address. They include:

  • Google Fonts, for the typefaces on the site.
  • The Tailwind CSS CDN, for part of the site styling.
  • Google-hosted images, which some pages use for photos and graphics.

These providers have their own privacy policies, and we do not control them. Links to other websites, such as a venue or team, are covered by those sites' own policies.

Cookies and tracking

We do not set advertising cookies or run ad tracking on the site. Your browser's localStorage, described above, is used for functionality, and third-party providers may handle their own technical data as described.

Children

ColoFandom is for general audiences, but it is not designed to collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please tell us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal information, such as asking what we hold, asking us to correct or delete it, or objecting to its use. Because most of your choices are stored only in your browser, you can control them yourself by clearing your site data. For anything we may hold, such as an email you sent or a notify list entry, email us and we will do our best to help.

Changes and contact

We may update this page as the site grows, for example if we add accounts or payments in the future. We will update the page when that happens. Questions or requests about privacy? Write to [email protected].
