Pop Singer Celebrates ‘Surviving the Kelly Clarkson Curse’ as Fans Say She Found the One Artist She ‘Can’t Outdo’

While Kelly Clarkson fans often joke that other musicians should be scared of getting “Kelly-Clarksoned,” one could-be victim of the powerhouse’s covers was absolutely delighted to discover that her song made the talk show host’s setlist—and many of her fans say that Miss Independent finally met a song she couldn’t successfully steal.

Griff, who previously opened for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, was the latest artist to have her music showcased by the American Idol alum, with her song “Miss Me Too” getting the Kellyoke treatment on a recent episode.

“Omg does this mean I’ve made it?” she wondered in the comments of Clarkson’s post before taking to her own social media accounts to gush over the honor.

“me finding out my song just got Kelly Clarkson-ed,” she wrote over a selfie-style video of herself dancing along to Clarkson’s cover, while the account for her fan headquarters also posted the cover.

Griff’s fans were thrilled for her, too, though many declared the songwriter’s version of the track to remain superior, suggesting that she’d “survived the Kelly Clarkson curse” of having her original version ruined.

“This is the first time Kelly didn’t own the song,” one follower suggested, with another agreeing it was “the only song Kelly Clarkson didn’t outdo the doer.”
